Bring the right stuff
Because rain is a definite possibility this time of year, the Chicago Blues Festival can become a bit of a mud fest. Bring a tarp or other water barrier if you’re planning to sit on the lawn. As for clothing, be prepared for nearly anything, especially rain and heat. Don’t forget water and sunscreen.
Musicians in local bars
Take advantage of all those great musicians in town and check out the local blues clubs for even more music when you’re not at the festival. This plan is especially useful if you missed a set due to your inability to be at two stages at the same time.
Plan your dining strategy
Consider buying enough food and beverage tickets for the entire day. This keeps you from getting stuck in a huge line in the evening when you’re hungry (and thirsty), and allows you the flexibility of just getting the food and drink you need when you want it.
