Getting There
There are myriad ways to reach the festival, including public transit, ferry, biking and even walking in from the city (event producers estimate a 15 minute trek from Manhattan and the Bronx, up to 30 minutes from Queens).
Visit the visual zoo
In addition to being a musical zoo, the festival extends the theme with colorful, animal-themed art installations that are set up across the island, which in 2015 included a multi-colored straw gorilla and performers in illuminated zebra costumes.
Electric Zoo’s festival family
Made Event joined forces with global live events powerhouse SFX in 2013, bringing their years of indie experience and credibility to SFX’s growing EDM portfolio that already included Tomorrowland and TomorrowWorld, among their many other dance music-related ventures.
New Zoo, new theme
Every year, EZoo presents a new theme to define that particular event. In 2015, the theme was “Transformed,” a subtle nod to new beginnings following drug-related drama in 2013 and the severe storms that shut down the final day in 2014.
Music for the masses
Given the considerable size of Randall’s Island and the still-growing popularity of Electric Zoo, expect to get down with a massive crowd of fellow EDM fans. In 2015, attendance was estimated at over 80,000 party people.
Pre- and after-party central
Given the NYC locale, Electric Zoo is the catalyst for a slew of before and after parties that kick off on the Thursday night before the festival’s opening day. Many of the artists on the bill can be experienced at hotspots around town such as Webster Hall and Marquee for those who want to keep the party going.
Electric Zoo international
EZoo has taken the party to EDM fans in Mexico City in 2014 before the brand expanded even further by going to Tokyo for its first time in 2015.
Giving back
Made Event and Electric Zoo make a point to donate time and money to local art-based charities, including FLOW, free annual summer art exhibitions on the island.
Dance yourself green
Electric Zoo is dedicated to making the fest as green as possible through various onsite efforts. Locally sourced biodiesel alternative fuel, considerable recycling initiatives and free water stations are just a few of the ways EZoo keeps things environmentally clean.
