Watch street performers
Get in touch with the roots of the festival by watching the city’s many street performers do their thing throughout the downtown area. Though FEQ may be about the music, it all began as a way to celebrate local performers, or “arts de la rue.”
Go to smaller gigs
A lot of the magic at FEQ will happen at smaller stages, so don't just focus on the headliners. Le Petit Imperial is where many of the bluesy gigs take place and Le Cercle is where party animals can dance till dawn.
Take in the city
Quebec is simultaneously historic and modern — it’s a UNESCO World Heritage site — so make sure you take in all it has to offer by visiting local restaurants and appreciating more than just what’s on the festival stages.
Prep Tips
Even though it has outdoor stages, FEQ takes place rain or shine, so unless there’s a major safety issue that causes cancellation, be prepared for weather. Some items are forbidden to take into the venue, so make sure you leave alcohol, glass and cans at home.
Lodging
Quebec draws big crowds this time of year, so while there are plenty of hotels and accommodation options for out-of-town attendees, make sure you don’t leave booking to the last minute.
