Treat Yourself
The VIP experience at Mountain Jam is unparalleled. Sure, you get the premium viewing, tent-covered hospitality lounge, gourmet food and exclusive acoustic VIP performances, but the Super VIPs can enjoy unlimited beer and wine, catered dinner every night and access to an exclusive Super VIP Hospitality Lounge Tent with direct view of the Main Stage.
Fickle Forecasts
Gary Chetkof, Mountain Jam organizer, urges by way of Hudson Valley Blogs to “be prepared for how you’re going to dress. You can get all four seasons in one day at Hunter Mountain.” Rain boots and a poncho will be just as valuable as your finest festival swag.
Parents, Relax
Mountain Jam is a fest chock full of family entertainment. Children aged ten and under are admitted for free when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult, and what with the boundless activities, workshops, and arts and crafts available, you’ve really no excuse to leave the kiddos at home. Just make sure they’re supervised, as there are no babysitters on staff.
Getting There
For those unacquainted with New York City, consider flying in through LaGuardia to complement your Mountain Jam experience with a night or two in the Big Apple proper – though wheels down at Albany or Stewart International Airports provide the most expeditious route to Hunter Mountain, which is just over one hour’s drive away. If planes aren’t your thing, Hunter is about half-hour ride from New York State Thruway, using exits 19 through 21.
Lodging
While camping might be the best way to experience one of America’s most pristine natural amphitheatres, some will naturally prefer a roof over their heads. Conveniently, a number of hotels, lodges and resorts are in the immediate area. There are even several Airbnb homes available for rent near the festival.
