Wear a costume
Bring out the beads, feathers, masks and body paint. Dress like a lion, or a goddess, or a pterodactyl. Put on a Carmen Miranda fruit hat or a wizard robe. It's all good at the Fair.
March in a parade
So many processions! Some erupt spontaneously, others are planned. Don't miss the 4pm circus parade each day.
Buy a dreamcatcher
You'll be surprised how many styles are out there among the Fair's 700 artisans. Crystals, moccasins, yurts, drums and Grateful Dead bear tapestries are also in hearty supply.
Learn to juggle
Head to the Yes You Canopy where pros give lessons. Newbies can learn the basics, while those who already know how to keep three balls in the air can acquire advanced skills with, say, clubs or lassos.
Count butterflies
The Fair's magical woods are chock-full of the fluttering beasties. Keep an eye out for anise swallowtails, painted ladies and woodland skippers.
Getting There
Amtrak chugs from Portland (110 miles north) to Eugene. The Green Tortoise bus drives up from San Francisco. Ticket holders can hop on the Fair's free shuttle buses in downtown Eugene to reach the festival grounds. Onsite parking is limited and costs $10 ($8 if purchased in advance).
