The Hub of it All
On Auahi Street between Cooke and Coral lies Lana Lane Studios, a five-thousand square foot warehouse turned creative studio, artist headquarters and gathering place, affording artists a space to work. All festival long, Lana Lane showcases participating artists’ work better suited to an enclosed gallery space. Be sure to take some POW! WOW! home with you.
Panels and Parties
Offered free to the public, POW! WOW! partners with the University of Hawaiʻi to bring together a wide range of professional artists, media moguls and brand owners to discuss dreams made real. The panels strive to inspire and educate students, young professionals and all those who’ve yet to truly tap into their inner artist. Young musicians, too, have an opportunity to explore their craft guided by the POW! WOW! School of Music. Look for their performance during closing night festivities – Steve Aoki closed the Hawai’i festival in 2017 – and check the official schedule for a definitive look at what’s happening around the block at all times. Wherever your adventure brings you, be sure not to miss the after parties for opening and closing night!
Kaka'ako Vibes
Situated along the beautiful southern shores of O'ahu, Kaka'ako was once home to a thriving Native Hawaiian community. Industrialization brought about numerous development projects, countless warehouses and a bustling commercial district ripe for artistic renaissance through POW! WOW! Amidst the flourishing arts community you’ll now find a thriving nightlife scene and exemplary cuisine of all sorts.
Getting There
Unless you live the sweet island life, you’ll need a flight to find your way to the streets of Kaka'ako. Service to Honolulu International Airport can be found through most major mainland and international airports. Once you’ve arrived you’ll find shuttle service to Waikīkī, or any number of car sharing options await. From Waikīkī, a quick ride down Ala Moana Boulevard brings you straight to the heart of Kaka'ako. Be sure to explore to your heart’s content, but wise souls hang around Cooke Street to catch most of the POW! WOW! action.
Lodging
While an Airbnb nearest the festival can be found in Kaka'ako proper, you’ll find options abound in Waikīkī. The same may be said for hotels, as more than 100 pack the streets just west of Waikīkī and Kūhiō Beach. Generally, travel to and from POW! WOW! grounds is a mere two or three miles, so rest easy.
