Huddle in the Igloo
SnowGlobe's smallest stage (and only indoor venue) is the place to catch the DJ stars of tomorrow. Sets usually end up with everyone shedding layers and jackets in a booty-shaking rave.
Find an after-party
The music doesn't die when the festival ends each evening. It just moves to the 24-hour casinos and clubs in Stateline, Nevada, where SnowGlobe-sponsored events take place nightly.
Learn a new trick
Don't know an ollie from a spread eagle? Watch the pro skiers and snowboarders launching off the jump by the Main Stage.
Shred a mountain
There's plenty of time to hit the slopes before the fest revs up in mid-afternoon. Strap on skis or a snowboard and swoosh down Heavenly's deep powder runs by town. Other fat peaks dot the area, as well.
Reflect on Lake Tahoe
The blue beauty that edges town is the nation's second-deepest lake, its sixth-largest lake and among the world's clearest watering holes.
Getting there:
The nearest airport is in Reno, 57 miles northeast. Ryde buses make the 200-mile drive from San Francisco and other Bay Area hot spots. In town, a shuttle bus runs from Montbleu Resort to SnowGlobe (about three miles away); most ticket prices include it.
Lodging:
Several hotels and casino resorts cluster at the California/Nevada border. These are convenient for catching the shuttle bus. Farther-flung ski lodges and cabins are also popular. Tahoe South Tourism has listings.
