Dress in layers and wear sensible shoes
You will be going from below-freezing temperatures and icy sidewalks into warm theaters over and over so make sure you’re dressed for both climates.
Do you know anyone who lives in Utah?
Utah residents get priority purchasing rights for tickets due to Robert Redford’s love of this state, so your friends can buy some tickets to the most popular films and bring you along. Otherwise, we suggest planning your ticket buying at least a month early.
Consider staying at the Canyons if you’re a ski bum
The Canyons Resort, with one of America’s largest ski parks, typically offers stay/ski packages that allows you to go to a 9 am film, ski during the middle of the day, and then catch a late afternoon film, a quick dinner, and a late night flick.
Getting There
Many people fly into Salt Lake City, rent a car, and then drive to Park City which is less than an hour away, although there’s a good number of shuttles and buses connecting the two cities during the festival. Unless you’re staying away from downtown Park City, there’s really no reason to have a car during the festival as there’s adequate shuttles to take you from venue to venue.
Lodging
Accommodations are tough as Park City’s population balloons during Sundance, so book your room early and consider alternative websites like VRBO or Airbnb.
